Battlefild 3 Destruction Simulation

Destruction in Battlefield 3 is'nt that much like in Bad company 2 but the destruction is extremely detailed compared to bad company 1 and 2, Bad company 2 had its own destruction program  called destruction 2.0, whereas BF3 used Geomod which was also used in Red faction guerrilla as destruction later called Destruction 3.0, Destruction in Battlefield 3 is divided into many levels.

Destruction Masking


What is destruction masking?
In the frostbite game 2 engine one important feature is destructible environments. they have developed several systems that, when put together, lets us do believable destructible environments. One of these systems is destruction masking.






the whole FB2.0 engine works on destruction masking layer by layer destruction by geometries, though BC2 had more destruction its not that much in detail say a building in a 2 floor building BC2 is made up 25-30 parts from scratch to totally collapsed, whereas BF3's 2 floor is made up of 75-80 parts.
